Hand Quilting 101 with Jen Kingwell

Hello everyone! A few weeks ago, our friend Jen Kingwell from "down under" visited the FQS Studio to film some amazing tutorials just for you! Today, we are learning Hand Quilting 101 with Jen Kingwell and Kimberly!

Our first crash course is on threads! We get a lot of questions on which thread is best for piecing, hand quilting, and anything you can imagine. So check out Jen's Aurifil thread picks in our video.

After picking your favorite Aurifil thread colors, it's time to dive into some hand quilting basics. Jen is the queen of hand quilting and with these tips and tricks, you'll be a pro in no time! Watch our video to learn more.

If you already love hand quilting and want to start quilting larger quilts, why not try the "quilt - as - you - go" method that Jen uses! Watch our video and learn how.

And, if you've been keeping up with Kimberly on Instagram, she's been posting different English Paper Piecing projects. So Jen thought it would be the perfect to create an EXCLUSIVE English Paper Piecing kit for you to get started as well! (Stay tuned for Jen's English Paper Piecing tutorial next week on our YouTube Channel!)
Thank you so much for joining us, be sure to share your hand quilting projects with us with #fqsfun and #jenkingwell. Have a very quilty day!

For some reason I was unable to view the videos. Don't know why. I also don't know Kimberly's favorite snack. I love anything chocolate. Laughing Cow cheese spread on celery is a great healthy snack.

  9. I don't know if you will get this question,. The video was very informative. I have hand quilted but still learning. I was wondering about the hand underneath the quilt. Is the lower hand only propping up the quilt or do you somehow feel the needle penetrate the quilt to bring the needle up?
